Management Reporter 2012 – SharePoint SSL (https://) Not Supported

By Craig Conzemius | February 18, 2015

I recently ran into an error with Management Reporter when attempting to publish a report link to SharePoint. The following error presented itself:
"Unable to create the related report link in: https://(Server_name)/mysite"

Management reporter integrates with SharePoint as a supported report output destination. Within the report definition you can specify one or more SharePoint libraries. I completed the required configuration for Management Reporter SharePoint integration but was still receiving this error. The Management Reporter logs and Windows event logs did not provide additional information.

After further review I confirmed that Management Reporter does not support SSL (https://) with SharePoint.  After creating a new content site using http I was able to successfully publish my report link to SharePoint.

SharePoint configuration steps required for use with Management Reporter 2012:

  1. Document Library Settings
         i.  Advanced Settings
            1. Allow Management of Content Types = YES
      ii.   Content Types
             1. Add from Existing Content Types, then select the Link to Document content type
  2. Management Reporter service account
         i. Assign Design permission on the SharePoint library.

Refer to the Management Reporter 2012 Installation Guide for more information on configuring SharePoint to allow reports to be published from Management Reporter.
